CROSS-TRAINING CONDITIONING - I001NY

Year: 10-12 

Prerequisites: PE 9 Course 1

In this course the student will participate in a variety of activities that promote physical fitness and the pursuit of lifelong health and wellness. Each student is required to do a fitness profile. This profile is then evaluated and students set goals to improve or maintain their level of fitness through participation in the various activities throughout the year. Some of the activities included are aerobics, dance, weight training, power walking, and aquatics. The students will also hear from and work with members of the community who work in the fitness, health, and safety fields. Ultimately, this course will provide students with the knowledge to make healthy choices for the rest of their lives.


PHYSICAL EDUCATION COURSE 1 - I009NY

Year: 9 

Prerequisites: None

In this course the students will engage in a variety of team and individual activities that promote lifelong health and fitness. These activities will encourage skill and social development as well as a general knowledge of rules and etiquette. Strength training concepts and physical fitness practices will be developed and students will participate in the California State Physical Fitness Test. Students must pass this prerequisite to go on to Physical Education Course 2 or Cross Training.


PHYSICAL EDUCATION COURSE 2 - I010NY

Year: 10-12 

Prerequisites: PE 9 Course 1

This course is designed to promote individualized physical education and fitness. The students have the opportunity to choose among three different classes that meet State and District standards for Physical Education. The choices will allow students to further their interests in sport and fitness activities. Participation in strength training and over-all physical fitness will contribute to an awareness of lifelong health-related fitness.
