Integrated throughout all ROP courses are career preparation standards which include: communication, interpersonal skills, problem-solving, workplace safety, technology, and employment literacy. All classes also include the connection to core academic standards.
P-VETERINARY SCIENCE (ROP)

In this advanced animal science course, students will explore the field of veterianary medicine. Course content includes: an introduction to companion and production animals, understanding the concepts of genetics and breeding programs, identification of major body systems and their treatment through various dessections, disease and disease prevention, animal nutrition and behavior, animal welfare issues and bio-security concerns. Students will learn various technical skills, such as safe animal restraint, administering medication, applying aseptic techniques, recognizing abnormal behavior, maintaining appropriate housing, grooming, and performing administrative duties in a simulated veterinary hospital environment. This course mmets the subject area "g" of the UC/CSU approved course list. This course meets the Math/Science related requirement for graduation.
FLORICULTURE/FLORAL DESIGN

Floriculture is an introductory course in the artistic and commercial aspects of the floral industry. The class covers the theories, techniques, and skills currently practiced in the floriculture industry in California. Course work includes designing floral arrangements, corsages, and wedding bouquets and arrangements. Students will also have the opportunity to design corsages and other floral products in conjunction with various school functions. Students will learn the principles of art through the construction of floral products. An appreciation of art history, cultural awareness, and aesthetic value will be explored and developed. Production, processing and care of floral and plant products, business techniques and sales will be covered.
SUPERVISED AGRICULTURAL
EXPERIENCE PROGRAM (ROP) (SAEP)

Prerequisite: Concurrent enrollment in another agriculture class
An on-the-job experience for students interested in agriculture. Students will be placed at work experience sites based on their interest and ability. Students' progress will be monitored and evaluated based on growth with the experience. Record keeping is a part of the course. This class 'II provide an excellent opportunity for an extension of classroom instruction as concurrent enrollment in another agricultural class is required.
POWER MECHANICS
AGRICULTURE MECHANICS (ROP)

This course is for students who are interested in working with small engines like those used in go-carts, lawn mowers, generators and chainsaws. Students will have the opportunity to take apart and reassemble engines, to service carburetors and ignition systems, and to repair starters. Students will learn how to service valves, cylinders, and piston/ring assemblies. In addition to gasoline engines, students will learn about diesel engines used in tractors and other power machinery. Electrical power instruction includes uses of motors, automatic electrical controls and wiring of controls.
WELDING AND METAL FABRICATION:

Designed to prepare students for entry level metal fabrication skills
the course includes shielded metal arc welding (SMAW), gas metal arc welding (GMAW), gas tungsten arc welding (G.T.A.W) and oxyacetylene welding and cutting (OAW). The majority of the class includes developing welding skills used in the fabrication of mild steel. A limited amount of time involves the fabrication of stainless steel and aluminum. A variety of welding assignments includes the welding of various joints, thickness of metals, and welding positions. The classroom component of the course relates to the welding skills developed in the shop. Students are required to complete a variety of welding assignments during the year. The Skills for the Trades course is highly recommended as a prerequisite.

COMPUTER GRAPHIC DESIGN (ROP)

This is a computer design course that will stress the use of pictorial illustration for visualization and communication. Students will develop an understanding of basic design elements and principles, composition and typography. The focus is on visual thinking, exploring the relationship between type and image, and developing multiple solutions to a given problem. Digital images will be produced using a variety of computer technologies, to include: Adobe PhotoShop. Adobe Illustrator, and Adobe InDesign.
3D ANIMATION (ROP)

This course will explore the fundamentals of 3D animation using 3D Studio MAX. Basic 3D navigating and modeling will be covered. The course will also explore advanced topics such as lighting and material creation.
Students will develop problem solving skills, modeling skills, animation skills, and rendering skills. Students will learn traditional animation skills in the areas of storyboarding, character design, animation theory and camera layout.
MARKETING AND BUSINESS COMMUNICATIONS (ROP)

A general course in marketing theory and methods. Among topics discussed are the importance of marketing, the interrelationship of the different phases of marketing, and the differences between the marketing of goods and services. Topics include buyer behavior, products, and channels of distribution, promotion, and pricing and social issues in marketing. The course will also emphasize the foundations of business, management, and entrepreneurship; economics; professional development; and communication and interpersonal skills.
WEB PAGE DESIGN (ROP)

LEGAL STUDIES

This law course focuses on both the substances and the process of our legal system and reflects many social and ethical issues. Students will gain insight and appreciation of the legal system, the dynamic nature of law, the social impact of legislation and legal decisions, the legal environment of business and personal transactions, the legal consequences of decision making, the rights and duties of citizens, consumers, workers, and business owners. Group and class discussion will provide interaction with case studies to connect legal principles to life. Students may transfer in at the semester.
CHILD DEVELOPMENT (ROP)

This competency based course prepares students for entry-level jobs in the field of child care and development for infants, toddlers, and young children. Students study child growth and development, safety and emergency procedures, nutrition and health practices, positive interaction and guidance techniques, learning theories and developmentally appropriate practices and curriculum activities.
CONSTRUCTION TECHNOLOGY

This survey course includes orientation to the trade, wood building materials, fasteners and adhesives, safe and proper operation of hand and power tools, basics of floor systems, wall, ceiling, floor, and roof framing, and the installation of windows and exterior doors.
ADVANCED CONSTRUCTION TECHNOLOGY

This is a hands on construction class with projects built under the direct supervision of journeymen in the construction industry. The following trades will provide instructors; Carpentry, Electrical Wiring, Plumbing, and Sheet Metal Students that enroll in this program have the opportunity to earn a Construction Certificate of Completion upon graduation from high school. This certificate would allow the student to enroll in an apprentice program after graduation.
RETAIL MERCHANDISING (ROP)

This is an introductory course for students with a career goal of retail merchandising. Students receive classroom instruction, as well as on-the-job training, in the areas of communication, inventory control, human relations, business mathematics, customer service, employee store security and shoplifting prevention, retail selling techniques, and cash register operation. They learn to make reasoned decisions on economic issues as citizens, workers, consumers, future business owners and managers. This course satisfies the economics graduation requirement.

ADVANCED MANUFACTURING TECHNOLOGY
Length of course: YEAR
This course, which satisfies the Visual Arts graduation requirement, covers the production of useful metal projects using materials and processes similar to those found in the repair, service and manufacturing industries. Students will study safety, measuring and layout, wrought ironwork, sheet metal, foundry, gas welding and cutting operations, arc welding operations, lathe and milling operations, computerized lathe and milling operations, and art metal work. The course may be repeated yearly, with requirements and expectations of performance changing each year. Students will develop job entry-level skills for careers in welding, sheet metal work, machining, repair and maintenance, and degree related skills for engineering students. Required equipment: shop clothes, goggles, folder, pen and pencil. Cost of this class varies with projects undertaken. $5 lab fee.
NIMS (National Institute for Metalworking Skills)

In this course you will be working toward NIMS certification. The skills and training is based on the industry framework for the metalworking industry.
